Drake is the rappers rapper. Make no mistake. On his third album he murders his competition.
He is this generations best. He raps for the lonely guys and girls. He raps for the average joe in the street. He even raps for the guy and girl that hates him that suffers from haterism.
The beats are just right. Not too much over the top stuff. Sparse beats which makes it easier to concentrate on what Drake has to say.
Most people that dismiss Drakes lyricism nominees etc. Have not listened to an album of his before and just heard the radio stuff.
Drake also shows his versatility. Singing and rapping. Different rapping styles. He is a talent. A talented that uses his jewish background to his advantage.
Drake adopts Migos rap style on 305 TO MY CITY. Future should have done the hook here instead of Detail.
HOLD ON WERE GOING HOME is a full of mixed emotions. A happy song and a sad song. Depends which way you look at it.
TUSCAN LEATHER is split up into three parts. All utilising the same Whitney Houston sample but sampled and replayed in three different ways. Noah 40 and Boi-1da did some great work on here.
Producer Jake One is responsible for the second part of FURTHEST THING. It has has that yolo swagger, ya heard!
Track whippers are abundant as you get Dj Dahi a certified track whipper who whips WORST BEHAVIOR. He whipped up Money Trees by Kendrick Lamar. A nice and lekker warm full track in which Drake borrows almost a whole verse from Ma$e.
An anthem like STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM is just that, an anthem. It is a feel good song that is for everybody that ain't afraid of hard work. Anthems.
THE LANGUAGE displays Drakes skill to make a mill. Love the hook. Birdman aka Baby aka Bryan Williams speaks on the last few seconds of this track. Drake just wants some head in a comfortable bed. That's all he is asking for. Maybe if it is possible, just maybe he can relax on a couch wrapped in and smelling like TUSCAN LEATHER?
Boi-1da is a beat whipper of note. Whipping he does with a track called POUND CAKE featuring Jay Z. Jay let's it down and flips some tight verses on this here ditty. Love this beat though. Got a lovely haunting vocal sample on here. Could cause you to ejaculate in your pants.
Boi-1da stocks must have gone up again after this track made an appearance. Seriously some end of the world shit I tell ya.
